All that Jazz
. . A feeling that I share only too well with Fitzgerald’s Mr. Wolfsheim, at least too well for my own benefit most of the times. I dream, no, I yearn for a time when ladies wore hats and gloves, and fashion pioneering was still a real possibility.
I dream not of changing this world, but for exchanging it for a world were films were silent and music was loud. And, much as I try, I cannot seem to change myself for this world either. Thus I am stuck between fantasy and reality in a limbo where memory and imagination interweave in a web so thick that neither is distinguishable any more.
So I am left with the only possibility that we dreamers have: to inject the real world with as many ‘memories’ from another time as it will allow us.
Yet, since fashion and trends have become almost completely evocative of other periods in history we are sometimes rewarded with a glimpse into the era which lingers in our dreams.
The flapper is back as, from Stella McCartney, and Calvin Klein to Chanel, waistlines are dropping and garbs are getting glitzier. As for John Galliano and Marc J. for LV, I recon none what to see a girl who isn’t embracing her inner roaring 20s this Fall.
And, if this is not enough razzle-dazzle for you, then might I suggest the latest goodies from ghd? And since we’ve begun by quoting The Great Gatsby, that is not only very representative for the 1920s, but one of my dearest classic novels, allow me to end on this cheerful note:

Oh that happened to me too, the bits sticking out I mean, so I just ended up using a lot of hairspray ..

I love The Great Gatsby and I so agree with you! I love their styles back then and it would be amazing to bring those styles back. I always like incorporating a little vintage touch to my outfits. What a great hair tutorial and your bf is quite talented. <3

I resonate with you and I also yearning for that era myself, which is definitely my favorite. Right after I watched Midnight in Paris I felt that move was made for me and I was so envious of the main character.. Brilliant hairdo, I must try it myself. I agree only too well with you! Love The Great Gasby too (did you know they are making it into a movie?) The dance between fantacy and reality is such an intersting one. You want to be yourself yet you dont want other people to think your a weirdo. I would love to live anytime pre-1985, but the 20′s is such a special time to me. Rebelion and womens sufferage sounds like the best place for someone like me

I know just what you mean, I spend so much of my life longing for the days when ladies wore hats and gentlemen never left home without a tie. Since I can’t go back in time, in spite of my wishes, I try to inject as much of the things I love from that era into my style as possible. This retro haristyle is absolutely lovely and your instructions make it sound so attainable, I will have to try it myself! Wonderful tutorial
